Two months after the original release, Autodesk is proud to announce the release of the latest version of the mobile app – AutoCAD WS 1.1
Download the latest version of AutoCAD WS from the App Store now.
Changes to the app were inspired by feedback from people who started using the app in their professional lives to make AutoCAD WS a truly mobile experience.
The user interface has been upgraded to make it even more intuitive. Two key features have been added to help you work with your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, wherever you find yourselves.
- Upload from Email
- Offline Support
Upload from Email
You can now open drawings that you receive as email attachments directly into AutoCAD WS. Simply tap on the attachment and the app will open automatically. At the same time, the drawing will be uploaded to your online account and saved to your mobile device so that you can access it offline. You can download it as a DWG file
Offline Support
AutoCAD WS now lets you sync your online files with your mobile device allowing you to view and edit your drawings even when you’re not connected to the internet. Any changes you make when you are offline can be uploaded back to your account when you reconnect. Now you can take your drawings with you whether you’re at the office or a construction site.
Tutorial
You can read a tutorial with a detailed explanation of the new features here.

Why are you releasing “inspired” new features when you haven’t even finished the most basic of commands?
Daniel December 7 2010
Hi Aaron, we’re trying to meet as many needs as possible while maintaining the quality and usability. Tell us what you think is missing and you may be the inspiration behind the next release.
Aaron December 7 2010
I’d like to inspire the inclusion of the copy command.
Also offset, mirror, trim and extend.
Grip editing would be nice too. Especially if it can have the 2011 polyline edit capabilities.
Daniel December 7 2010
Hey Aaron, we’re already working on some of these, so even if you aren’t the original inspiration, you will be part of the impetus to get them into a future release!

I think you guys have done a great job with the application. As far as additional commands
go, I would be able to make great use from the “area” command.
Thanks
joe
Daniel December 7 2010
Thanks Joe. I think we’ll run another poll later this week to see what other features are still missing.

This is offtopic, but is there any information about the android version release date? Not necessariy an exact date, any rough assumption would be appreciated.
Daniel December 7 2010
Not off topic at all, Phil. It’s a question that a few people have asked. I can’t even give a rough date yet, but it will happen. As soon as I have more information, I will share it with everyone here, on the blog and on our Facebook page.

Perhaps you could have someone from the programming team post an article on the challenges of making an android app vs making a iphone app.
Brian Lewis December 7 2010
Any information on a Windows Phone 7 version would be great as well. I know iPhone is most popular, but it’s not the only mobile device, and definitely not a business focused device. Keep up the great work. Thanks

Anybody else having issues with opening from email? I still get the question mark symbol with no options to open in WS when I tap…
Daniel December 8 2010
Paul hi, it may be an issue with the operating system you are running on your iPhone. Try updating the iOS and let us know if it’s still a problem by dropping an email to feedback@autocadws.com.
Paul H December 11 2010
Thanks Daniel, I’m on a JB’d phone so will have to have a look at that…P
Brian Lewis December 8 2010
For clarification. This update is ONLY for the iPhone App store, not any other product’s app store, and does not include the AutoCAD Plugin? Yes?
Daniel December 9 2010
The update is for the mobile app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Are there any help pages besides the one-page brochure that comes up on the iPad? Maybe the features included in the web browser version are not available in the native iPad version. For example, I cannot figure out how to look at properties (especially need attributes) or manage layers on the iPad. If there was a help file that actually described what is and is not in the application for the iPad, I would be more tolerant of the development of features as time goes on. As it is, comparing the web browser to the iPad leaves me more frustrated than pleased. Having said all that, I am delighted to have the ability to look at and mark up DWG files on the iPad. Keep up the good work!

Hey guys, i’m really excited about autocad WS, its all what i needed, when i’ve shown to my boss on
my ipad she downloaded to her iphone also.
But im having a little problem now.
I just cant connect on the server using my 3G connection, didint tryied on wifi cause there are no connections at all on the build site. When i try to connect, the autocad ws crashes, if i restart the 3G options, it opens but on loggin screen shows me that there arent connections and for me to check my internet connection.
But all my other apps that uses internet connection works just fine. I cant even try to use it offline, cause always ask-me to loggin.
If somone could help-me with this, i would be really gratefull.
Anyway, ancious for the next update and new features.
Thx.

How about fixing the fact that the program no longer runs on g3 iphone.
No one seems to care that I cant get this program to run. I am sorry but right now I feel this software is a joke!
