AutoCAD WS Mobile running on an iPad

We recently ran a poll asking you which features  you would like to see in AutoCAD WS mobile. The poll received overwhelming responses with almost 1500 people taking the poll so far. We've listened to your input and have added the top requests to the list of features for version 1.1 which will be released in the coming months.

Our next release will include:

  • Offline access without a Wifi/3G connection.
  • Open drawings which were received as e-mail attachments.
  • Stylesheets and layouts support.
  • Different unit types support (inches, feet, meters, etc.)
  • Improved snapping tools.

We're very excited about this release and want to hear your thoughts in the comments section. You can also use the feedback button or email us  at feedback@autocadws.com to let us know about your initial experience with the Mobile app, and which features can be useful for you.

P.S Android users – be patient. We're thinking about you as well.

I unable to upload dwg file. I download example file from you sites to be sure that the problem was not on my file… It’s stopping to upload at about 90%.

    • Iris

      Hi Remy,
We have a massive traffic increase over the last couple of hours.
The bad news are that we’re unable to support all uploads.
We are uploading more servers now, please try to upload files a bit later.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    • Iris

Servers are up! Get your online and mobile drawings now.

Uploading files is still not working. iPad with 3G/WiFi connection gives me an error to check my internet connection. I did manage to somehow get some files in there first thing this morning but I get a message saying they contain elements that are incompatible with AutoCad WS.

Is there some specific massaging that has to be done to a DWG file prior to it being usable on AutoCad WS either on the iPad or on the web? So far, not one file I have sent will open. All have the same errors.

It’s great! But I’m waiting the update for offline access.

  3. Lowa

very good job, but the offline access is essential for the idevice without 3G connection… In the most cases the wifi or 3g is no possible, for example in the gallery o in the curch

Espero que no tarden mucho en sacar la actualización, ya que las nuevas características son esenciales.

    Muchas gracias por vuestro trabajo!

I hope the update is coming soon because the new features are really necessary.

Thank you very much for your work!

Great job!!! Very handy to be able to access drawings. Two suggestions after a few minutes of playing around. 1. offline access. 2. be able to change units when measuring. inches only is not always convenient.

Thanks again for the great app!

I have already downloaded the application and the truth is I liked his overall performance, although I suppose in a iPad will be better than an iPod, I say by the size of the screen.

Hi, there is a great job all that iphone/ipad app to work with acad, really, but if we could download dwg and work offline and sync after all, it will be GREAT!!!!!!!!

  9. Kevin Hainsworth

Can I still work on a drawing even if my internet connection is lost ? I work in many locations in the UK that have poor Wifi/3g coverage so this is a non-starter if I cannot continue working everywhere.
I appreciate I need to be online to ‘download’ a drawing to start working on it but need I need to be always on-line ?

    • Iris

Offline support will be added on our next release which is coming soon.

Will this become an app for the RIM community as well?
BlackBerry Torch and Storm as well as the PlayBook could be obvious platforms for use.

I get a “not enough resources to open up this drawing” message with the sample drawings that come with tris app. I have the 16Gb 3G model with o ver half of the hard drive free…

    • Luis

error Not enough system resources to open this drawing with a basic draw (2Mb) or the samples of app. Ipad 16Gb 3G.

  15. Pablo M.

  16. koi

So far, it’s a great idea. the offline-feature is badly missing! Even with 3g, i couldn’t ‘work’ in it – i was continiously disconnected. is it the complex drawings (samples too), a bad reception or the servers again? direct integration to email, dropbox etc. would also be extremely useful.

keep up the work, let the vision become real!

We should have important news about working offline and integration with your email in the coming days. Stay tuned for updates!
