As always we try to be as responsive as possible to the demands of our users.
We have supported layers in the web app since its original release and now we can reveal that the next release will bring Layer support t the AutoCAD WS mobile app.
Tapping the Layers button will pull up a scrollable list of all the layers that are part of your drawing. From here you will be able to turn on and turn off each layer by tapping it. The status of each layer will be indicated by an image of a light bulb which will either be lit or dark depending on whether the layer is on or off.
The next release of AutoCAD WS will unify functionality across our mobile platforms – iOS and Android. All future updates will be made available for both platforms at the same time.

Layer support is v good, will 1.3 support multi line text comments?
Thanks

This is nice an all, but DWF support is the absolute most important feature that is needed before anything else moves forward. It is the only way to efficiently access complex drawings with multiple XREFs because we can’t just upload entire projects to WS to be able to see a single complete drawing.

A command line will be added shortly. X,Y input is on our road map and expected in the next couple of months

When I view a drawing where mline text has been drawn at off-world UCS it reads rotated. Same with dimension text.
Iris June 11 2011
Hi Mike, please contact us at feedback@autocadws.com. If you can send us this rotated text object so we’ll be able to test this bug over here it would be great. Thanks for helping.

On the browser the measure tool includes distance, area, perimeter, etc… But not on the iPad app. Will the mobile app be updated to extend the function of the measure tool??

Stay tuned for more details about the upcoming release and the functionality we’re adding.

Hurry up and release 1.3. My iPad hasnt been able to open AutoCAD WS since April. How about being more responsive and look at all the horrible reviews it is getting on the app store.

C’mon man, you talking like you have paid for it. And you are so impatient you might as well go to college get a degree in computer programing and make your own program. Then have rude and ignorant people tell you hurry up. This is not an over night process, especially for a free program. Why not use a little intelligence and say something like; this program has so much potential and i hate seeing it get put down and i wish the process could speed up bit. You get father with a bit of kindness then a whip, as well those below you will want to work.

I’ve been researching the AutoCAD WS product. Got the Client working on AutoCAD and IPAD (working on an Andriod as well) and I was wondering about the Server Component of this.
What are the options that are available for running our own server and pointing the clients at it instead of the AutoDesk service?
Thanks

I tried these instructions, but for some reason our WebDav errors out when trying to connect to it.
Are there more detailed specifications about what types of servers can be connected to with AutoCAD WS?
Bob B June 15 2011
So, I got everything to work via the Plugin and the Web Browser, also via an IPAD. One piece of the equation that I would like to see is the ability for a remote client, like IPAD or Android the ability to own the File being shared. I may not yet have gotten far enough into things yet. But I would like to see the updates to the AutoCAD WS server from the remote clients (other than copying and pushing another file)
Can the auto updating of edits, be pushed back to the DWG AutoCAD session the same way they are pushed out to the remote clients, which does work (sweet!!). I would think that this is possible from any of the clients, just not implemented yet.
Or have I missed something somewhere about how this Field (remote) collection of data might be accomplished?
Thanks
