AutoCAD WS is on (Kindle) Fire!

We're happy to announce that AutoCAD WS is now also available for Kindle Fire through the Amazon App Store!

The Kindle Fire is now joining the huge family of Android and iOS devices running AutoCAD WS and allowing you to take your designs with you anywhere you go. Use your Kindle Fire to view your drawings, edit them and share them with your colleagues.

If you just got a Kindle Fire for the holidays, download the app and tell us what you think.

What Viewing Capabilities Would You Like for the AutoCAD WS Mobile App?

.

.

We’re still a while away from announcing the next release of AutoCAD WS, but we’re looking at adding to the viewing capabilities within the mobile app in a future release and we thought it would be a good idea to run a poll and gauge the interest of our users.

We have put a few ideas into the poll below, but, as always, we really want to hear from you about the viewing functionality that you would like to see added at some point in the future. Pick something from the poll or leave us a comment either here or on our Facebook page.

And don’t forget there’s still time to win one of our exclusive AutoCAD WS t-shirts. Just send us a picture of you or one of your colleagues using AutoCAD WS on a mobile phone or tablet outside the office onsite somewhere.

And now that poll:

Tip of the Week – Introducing WS to your Colleagues for the First Time

.

Many of our users tell us how happy they were when they first discovered AutoCAD WS. Whether they were searching for a mobile app or a CAD editor to use when they were away from their office, AutoCAD WS has filled an important need.

Now that AutoCAD WS gives you the ability to collaborate with clients and colleague anywhere in the world, one of the challenges is introducing WS to potential collaborators who are not even aware that WS exists.

With AutoCAD WS, you can collaborate with your colleagues whether they use AutoCAD Every day or even if they have never used it at all. To share a drawing with someone, you must enter their email address. AutoCAD WS will send an email to that address stating that you want to collaborate with them on a particular drawing. The email they receive has two links. One is to open the drawing immediately, the other is to download it.

If you’re sharing with someone for the first time you might want to speak to them and guide them through the process when they get their email. You can explain to them that all the links within it are perfectly safe.  The first time they view the drawing, you might want to have it open on your computer at the same time so you can show them your cursor moving around and emphasize the power of collaboration.

The Fun Side of Collaboration in AutoCAD WS

.

Here’s a light-hearted look at collaboration in AutoCAD WS that shows just how powerful and versatile its collaboration features are. Below you will see a video where we use AutoCAD WS to share games like Tic-Tac-Toe and Sudoku.

The AutoCAD WS collaboration feature allows you and your collaborator to see each other’s cursor in real time as you move it around the screen adding markups or making changes. We also have a built in chat functionality that you can call up to help you emphasize a point or gain consensus for a decision or even just to say “Hi!”.

AutoCAD WS offers a collaborative environment that incorporates real-time changes and chat. It allows you to work with clients and colleagues as if they were sitting in the same room with you.

Once you embrace the power of collaboration within AutoCAD WS, it’s not a huge leap from there to a whole new world of fun where anything you design can be shared, so that you can work (and play) with it together.

Ilai Rotbaein, a product manager for AutoCAD WS, put together this video to demonstrate the value of collaboration and showcase the fun side of AutoCAD WS.

If you come up with something fun using AutoCAD WS, why not use the Get Link To Share function on the Output tab and publish it on our Facebook page so everyone can have a go.
