AutoCAD WS Celebrates the New Year and 4,000,000 Downloads!

New Year, New Milestone. We are currently celebrating 4,000,000 downloads of AutoCAD WS for iOS, Android and Mac.

We wanted to thank YOU, for being the best customers ever – Your suggestions, questions and other feedback had a huge contribution to the success of AutoCAD WS.

2011 was a busy year, both product and development wise – It started with adding support for 10  different languages and then the release of our version for Android devices which was a huge hit!. AutoCAD WS was also integrated into AutoCAD 2012 ribbon with the "Online Tab" and of course, we didn't forget our Mac users and provided them with a Mac version of AutoCAD WS. We joined to the Amazon family, added lots of editing and viewing features, reached to more than 80,000 fans on Facebook and made sure to have some fun on the way as well.

So… what can you expect for in 2012? The simple answer is – A lot! It's been a little over a year since AutoCAD WS was released and we grew up rapidly. We listened to your feedback and tried to make AutoCAD WS a smarter, more innovative, faster and useful tool for you.

We can promise you that 2012 will be even more interesting with more amazing features that will blow your mind :)

Thank you all again and a Happy New Year!

The AutoCAD WS Team.

AutoCAD WS Success Stories

We love our customers and nothing excites us more than seeing  them doing amazing things with AutoCAD WS. We have taken the time to get to know them and now we have the pleasure of sharing their success stories with you. We chose to start with four customers, each one of them tells a unique story about how AutoCAD WS improved his daily work:

University of Cincinnati – Pompeii Archeological Research Project for exploring the ancient city.

Fitzroy Yachts – New Zealand’s Premier Super Yacht Builders.

Hall Engineering – Provides the electrical needs of the Specialty, Commercial, and Industrial customers throughout the Midwest since 1937.

Covert Engineering – Specializes in the design of commercial, industrial and institutional facilities.

In the near future we will add more success stories from various industries. If you have a story to share with us, you can write us at feedback@autocadws.com and maybe your story will be featured here as well.

We invite you to read the stories and will be glad to hear your thoughts.

What’s In The Next AutoCAD WS Release?

. With the start of AU 2011 in Las Vegas this week, we are thrilled to be able to announce some of the features we are planning to include in the next release. As usual we have been paying close attention to the requests we receive every day from our users. You are the people that continue to shape AutoCAD WS and determine the directions the app takes. It's still too early to tell you the date of release, but here are some of the features you can expect to be hearing more about in the coming weeks:

3D Support

Now you can view and share the 3-dimensional objects in your DWGs using AutoCAD WS. I have been following the development of the 3D viewing function for some time and the touch control in the mobile version is wonderfully intuitive and responsive. This has been one of our most demanded features and it's going to have a big impact.

GPS Integration

Now you can use the in-built GPS functionality of your mobile device to position yourself physically inside your design when you are out visiting a site. This is another much-requested feature that makes AutoCAD WS an even more vital tool for engineers and architects who need to get out into the field and take their designs with them.

Plot to Print from Mobile

In conjunction with registering for HP ePrint & Share, a free online service, you can send your designs to any compatible HP ePrint printer. Now you can use your smartphone or tablet to plot from wherever you are. Additionally you can plot your design directly as a PDF and send it to your email.

Tip of the Week – Introducing WS to your Colleagues for the First Time

.

Many of our users tell us how happy they were when they first discovered AutoCAD WS. Whether they were searching for a mobile app or a CAD editor to use when they were away from their office, AutoCAD WS has filled an important need.

Now that AutoCAD WS gives you the ability to collaborate with clients and colleague anywhere in the world, one of the challenges is introducing WS to potential collaborators who are not even aware that WS exists.

With AutoCAD WS, you can collaborate with your colleagues whether they use AutoCAD Every day or even if they have never used it at all. To share a drawing with someone, you must enter their email address. AutoCAD WS will send an email to that address stating that you want to collaborate with them on a particular drawing. The email they receive has two links. One is to open the drawing immediately, the other is to download it.

If you’re sharing with someone for the first time you might want to speak to them and guide them through the process when they get their email. You can explain to them that all the links within it are perfectly safe.  The first time they view the drawing, you might want to have it open on your computer at the same time so you can show them your cursor moving around and emphasize the power of collaboration.

Do you have any tips for first time users of AutoCAD WS? Add them to our Facebook page or email us at feedback@autocadws.com.
