Who Answers Your Feedback?

O

We welcome feedback at AutoCAD WS and we have several channels for receiving and dealing with it.

You can contact us by:

  • Leaving a comment on this blog
  • Writing on our Facebook wall
  • Raising an issue on our support page
  • Emailing us directly at feedback@autocadws.com

Our aim is to give you as many avenues as possible to reach us.

But what happens when you send us feedback? Well you might be interested to know that we do not have a dedicated team of people sitting somewhere offsite going through your comments. Everything you send to us is seen by one of the core team that works on AutoCAD WS.

It’s a key part of the strategy to incorporate as many of your suggestions and comments into future versions of the product. When your comments reach the people that develop and work with AutoCAD WS, they really have an impact.

The first person who checks the feedback will filter it so that it goes to the right address and then you may get a response from someone in product management, QA or even from the marketing depending on what you were asking about. In other words, every question, complaint and compliment goes directly to one of the people who built AutoCAD WS and who is helping define the product’s direction in the immediate future.

We all sit in the same office and we regularly consult with each other and this means your comments are noted and acted upon. We pride ourselves in developing the functionality that our users demand and every new release so far has added features which originated in user feedback.

So keep talking to us and we’ll keep listening.

Accessing AutoCAD WS From Your Desktop

We’re constantly thinking of new ways of making AutoCAD WS more accessible and easy to use. One of the good things about FTP or DropBox is that it allows you to access the contents of your account as a simple folder on your desktop. Today we’ve released a feature that allows you to do just that with AutoCAD WS.

With this new feature you can create an AutoCAD WS folder on your PC or Mac that you can use to upload files by simply placing them in that folder. These files will be immediately available to you from your Web browser, iOS or Android device. Downloading a file from your account is equally easy -- just copy/paste or drag & drop the file(s) from the folder to anywhere on your computer.

Sounds interesting? -- here’s how to learn more. We’ve added a new tutorial with step-by-step instructions on how to create an AutoCAD WS folder on Win XP, Windows 7 and OSX.

We’ve also made this short video showing you how to set this up and show how easy it is to upload and download files to an AutoCAD WS folder.

How to Snap with AutoCAD WS + Poll

The purpose of any Snap feature is to save you time and increase the accuracy of your designs.

There are three Snap types in the AutoCAD WS mobile app:

  • Snap to Endpoint
  • Snap to Intersection
  • Snap to Center

(In addition, the web version of AutoCAD WS also supports Snap to Midpoint.)

This short video shows you how to bring up the Magnifying Glass in the mobile app which will help you to Snap exactly where you want to.

I also want to run a poll to ask what Snap types you think should be added to the next release of the mobile app.

What do you want to see in the next update for Android / iOS? – Poll

From this point forwards we will be releasing all updates for the mobile app simultaneously across all platforms. This means any feature added to AutoCAD WS for Android will also be available in AutoCAD WS for iOS and vice versa.

As always after a release, we like to ask you what you think is missing.

This time we’re going to take one item out of the list because we are already working on adding a function for turning Layers on and off in AutoCAD WS.

You should also check out our Facebook page and tag yourself alongside your mobile device. We’ll send some of the taggers a piece of AutoCAD WS swag in the near future.

As you know by now we try to introduce new features into our products based on the responses we get to polls likes these. Your vote counts. Tell us what you think and you might see your pick in a future release.
